Console Table

Rosewood and Highly Figured Maple Veneers, Red Bole, Gold Leaf, Shellac

Substrate: Softwoods - Height: 21" - Width: 42" Depth: 10.5" - Dated: 2007

This is a 19th century French Rococo piece, that had its top destroyed.

I replaced the top with some vintage veneers, from my stock of old veneers,

and sealed all the visible surfaces with orange shellac, using the French Polish

method, then softened the sheen with steel wool.

The support is entirely hand carved, and nicely worn, and was given a

single coat of orange shellac, for protection from the elements.
