The Wittig Report - on the interface between Life and Art

Welcome to the Wittig Report. On the one hand there is ‘Art,’ and on the other hand, there is ‘Life,’ and somewhere in the middle, they meet.

January was a slow month for me. One big insight I had, though, was the Jekyll - Hyde dichotomy, between what I paint, and what I write.

Is it my personality that is split in two…

Or is it an intrinsic difference, between visual and verbal thought…

Or perhaps, some of both?

January 2002, nine paintings:

My First Magazine Cover

I had one of my paintings selected for the cover of the Mensa Bulletin… first time that ever happened.

Osama’s Legacy

“Africa is actually at the forefront of the human experience, and calling it the 'Third World' is a misnomer. If the world and Africa, working together, can't resolve the problems presenting themselves there, then we will all become 'Africas' in the next 100 years or so. The Middle East is already an 'Africa', it is just one slot up the chute, and descending fast, with Eastern Europe right behind it, and Russia, and India/ Pakistan behind it, and everybody else right behind them…”

Featured Website – Doug Ferrin

This website was submitted by Chris Miller, who (thanks, Chris) came unknowingly to my rescue, as I have been waging war for the past month with the ‘Mother of all head and chest colds’, and did not do my usual web surfing during January.

Paintings, Animation, stories, the works, including the murals that Ferrin and Charles Segal painted for Gianni Versace’s bedroom, in 1995
