The Wittig Report - on the Interface Between Life and Art

-------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Wittig Report...

On the one hand there is 'Art,' and on the other hand, there is 'Life,'

...and somewhere in the middle, they meet.

After a two-month hiatus, I am posting my first newsletter for 2004.

Wow! Have I been busy... as I mentioned at the end of 2003, this

year... 2004... was going to be the year I 'put everything

together'... all of the work and study of the past eight years... into

a function, living-earning unit. I have been doing just that.

Last year, I was focusing on doing things as quickly as possible...

the painting equivalent of 'wind sprints', and this year, I have

slowed everything down, and have been producing work... mostly in oil,

that employs the lessons I have learned, over my period of formal

study.

Also, I have been highly focused on earning a living, which will most

likely be the subject, of some of this years essays.

Enough chit chat...

Article: 'Journeyman Painter'

"There is 'being a painter', and there is 'being an artist'. I know

for a fact that I am a painter. Whether I am an artist or not, is

 none of my business."
