The Wittig Report - on the interface
between Life and Art
Welcome to the Wittig Report.
On the one hand there is 'Art,' and on the other hand, there is 'Life,'
...and somewhere in the middle, they meet.
October is the beginning of my Watercolour season, as the doors and windows are
once again all closed, and oil painting becomes somewhat unhealthy, in the
enclosed environment. The cool and cold months are also a good time to produce
work on paper, because one does not have to worry about sweat dripping on the
paper, and spoiling the work. Sketching, and other forms of on-the-spot work
also become less interesting, as working out-of-doors is not much fun, once the
snow flies.... a good time for doing interior and still-life work, and working
from the sketches and photographs I turned out, in the summer.
Most of my
current work is in smaller format right now, due in part to my wanting it to be
of scannable size, for possible base material for print-making, and the fact
that several years ago, I bought up a bunch of small sized watercolour blocks,
and it is about time that I used them.
Waste not,
want not... besides, they will fit nicely in Priority sized mailing boxes, if
someone chooses to bid on the in an eBay sale, or purchase them from my
website.
A business is as honest as its advertisements.

Article: Art vs. Artsy-Fartsy - The Decline of Modernism
"Whatever
art is, and whatever its role should be, in the future of the species, it will
be decided in a dialogue that includes the painter, and the population at
large... and not just a small, self-selected group, who claim to be the only
ones with the intellectual acuity to make such a decision..."

Second
Featured Website - Lou Works
I've known this fellow on and off for much of my adult life.
Recently, he built a website that features his handmade hardwood boxes. As a
woodworker myself (in addition to painting), I could not help but respect what
he is doing.
