In September 2000, I went on a boat tour up the Chicago River, with a group of friends and acquaintances. Two months later, I settled down to painting these images, working from photos and memories.
The finished products most certainly have more to do with late fall, and the specific things that I was thinking about at the time of their execution, than they do of the bright September afternoon that initially inspired them.
